The Purchasing & Facilities Department has an available full-time job opening for the position of Maintenance & Janitor Technician. This position is responsible for keeping the facility clean, sanitary, and well-maintained in keeping with federal, state and local health codes and regulations. This position will also perform general maintenance of building and Blood Center fleet.
Job Duties:
- Facility areas include team offices, waiting areas, kitchens, restrooms, donor drawing areas, laboratory, blood component preparation areas, parking lot and surrounding areas, etc. Cleaning duties include but are not limited to dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, buffing, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, etc.
- Other duties include emptying waste containers and trash from all areas of facility; disposing of trash and any medical waste according to facility policies and procedures.
- This position will also be responsible for documentation of daily duties; restocking and supply inventory.
- Floor maintenance includes: daily disinfecting/mopping, weekly buffing, waxing, and stripping. Must maintain clean and spot free carpeted areas.
- This position will be responsible for building maintenance to ensure a safe and operational facility that may include repairs throughout the building inside and out.
Assist with Blood Center fleet upkeep, vacuum, wash as needed or upon request.
Qualifications:
The individual applying for this position must meet the following criteria:
- High School graduate or Equivalent
- Valid Texas driver license required, with clean driving record
- 1-3 years working knowledge of janitorial/housekeeping equipment
- Ability to handle floor care equipment
- Integrity & ability to work independently
- Must be able to effectively and efficiently manage time
- Knowledge & experience using power tools
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and building repairs
Maintenance & facilities background experience is a plus
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 11am-8pm (We offer flexible shift choices with the stability of a set schedule.)
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to use hands, stand, sit and stoop and bend for long periods of time.
- Walking, bending, climbing stairs and stooping will be required. Lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
- Other physical activities that apply:
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from work area to another.
- Repeating motions may include wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Pushing and pulling.
Drug/alcohol & Background screens on selected applicants. Additionally, the position is required to perform these procedures in accordance with current regulatory, organizational and OSHA standards and requirements to ensure a safe blood supply.
