City of Manistee Housing Commission 273 Sixth Avenue, Manistee, MI 49660 231-723-6201 Office | 231-299-1084 Fax --- Position Title: Maintenance Laborer – Full Time --- Pay: $22.96 – $23.96 per hour Starting pay based on union wage progression schedule --- Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule with other maintenance staff to respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies. --- Position Overview: The Manistee Housing Commission is seeking a dependable Maintenance Laborer to assist in maintaining Housing Commission buildings and properties. This position performs a variety of building maintenance, repair, and property upkeep tasks to help ensure safe and well-maintained housing for residents. Applicants with maintenance experience are encouraged to apply; however, the Housing Commission is willing to train motivated candidates who are willing to learn building maintenance skills. --- Typical Duties: Responsibilities may include: - Plumbing repairs and fixture replacement - Electrical troubleshooting and minor repairs - Heating and HVAC system maintenance - Appliance repair and installation - Carpentry and drywall repair - Painting and general building maintenance - Cleaning and preparation of units during tenant turnover - Building and common-area cleaning and upkeep - Grounds maintenance and landscaping - Snow removal and winter maintenance - Other maintenance duties as assigned --- Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED - Valid Michigan driver’s license - Ability to lift up to 75 pounds - Ability to climb ladders and perform physical work - Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment - Ability to work independently and as part of a team --- Preferred Experience: - Experience in residential or building maintenance - Experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or appliance repair --- Union Information: This position is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by United Steelworkers Local 14758-04 --- Benefits: The Manistee Housing Commission offers a competitive public-sector benefits package which may include: - Health insurance - Retirement pension (MERS) - Paid holidays - Paid vacation and sick leave --- How to Apply: Submit an employment application to: Manistee Housing Commission 273 Sixth Avenue Manistee, MI 49660 Or email: info@manisteehousing.com Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. --- Equal Opportunity Employer The City of Manistee Housing Commission is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
