Job Summary
The Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of a facility, ensuring that all equipment and machinery are maintained in optimal working conditions. This role will be a hands-on technical leader, responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support, train and mentor a team of maintenance technicians.

Provides guidance on troubleshooting and repair of food manufacturing machinery.

Assists Maintenance Manager & Maintenance Supervisor in managing work schedules and needs for equipment and supplies.

Ensure all equipment is operating at peak efficiency to minimize unplanned downtime.

Perform various mechanical and electrical technician related duties; assist in the purchase, installation, repair and maintenance of equipment. Diagnose and repair electronic systems.

Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and requirements. Provides monthly and weekly safety coaching and compliance reviews.

Operates a variety of equipment and machines including various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintains tools and equipment in a safe, clean, and proper working condition.

Assist in the purchase, installation, maintenance and repair of bearings, shafts, chains, sprockets gears.

Understanding and knowledge on electrical: troubleshooting, wiring, sensors, servo motors, timers, PLC’s and panel views

Understanding and knowledge on Pneumatic: air cylinders, actuators, pumps, valves. Hydraulic: hoses, valves, motors.

Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments on equipment and work environments.

Performs skilled maintenance repair on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment, coordinate emergency repairs and large complex projects.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair histories.
- Participate in meetings and communicate with vendors and internal management to support maintenance operations

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience in an industrial maintenance role.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.

Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sheaves, sprockets, chains, and gear reducers and proper alignment of these drive devices

Experience in inspection of all included above and the ability to make recommendations on the proper level of replacement and inspection

Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out tag-out, guarding, and the level of operator involvement for proper machine integrity consulting engineers when needed and driving a safety culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the food industry and knowledge of GMP’s and SQF audits preferred

Bilingual – English/Spanish beneficial Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Ability to lead, guide, train and grow the maintenance technicians, by establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory role. Proven experience in leading and motivating teams.

Ability to communicate with cross-functional teams across all shifts.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, conduct weekly safety training meetings, periodically review operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports, daily shift reports, weekly and daily correspondence such as email using a computer.
- Experience calculating figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to prioritize, schedule, assign and review and audit work completed by team members.

Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, PHA documents, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to others.

Experience estimating labor and materials costs.

Proven ability to work independently with little direction and manage time effectively.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and power industrial trucks. The employee is frequently exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
The position requires a schedule of five to six workdays per week, with occasional Sunday work as needed.

The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Pay and Benefits
The following information is provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Compensation is based on experience, geographic locations, and other legally permitted factors. The expected hourly rate for this role is $38.00 to $42.00. This role may also be eligible for shift differential pay and overtime compensation.
