Maintenance Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing maintenance operation within the assigned plant at Picayune Operations. This role focuses on minimizing equipment downtime, supervising maintenance personnel, and ensuring maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company standards.


The Maintenance Supervisor supports the Maintenance Manager by coordinating maintenance activities, ensuring preventive maintenance is completed, and maintaining operational reliability of plant equipment. This position also evaluates maintenance processes and implements improvements that reduce cost, increase equipment reliability, and improve overall plant efficiency.


Primary responsibilities


Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of assigned maintenance personnel.
  • Provide leadership, training and guidance to maintenance technicians and mechanics.
  • Ensure employees work safely and comply with company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and immediately address unsafe behaviors or conditions.
  • Assist with employee training, performance feedback and development of maintenance staff.

Maintenance Operations

  • Support the Maintenance Manager by following established maintenance schedules and operational guidelines.
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize production downtime.
  • Complete daily rounds of the high-rise and assigned plant areas to inspect equipment and facility conditions.
  • Conduct daily production line audits to identify potential mechanical or operational issues.
  • Ensure timely completion of corrective repairs to prevent excessive equipment downtime.
  • Oversee and ensure completion of preventative maintenance tasks with assigned plant areas.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment issues as needed.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.

Equipment Reliability and Efficiency

  • Evaluate existing maintenance methods and procedures to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs while maintaining equipment performance.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements or upgrades where necessary.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools such as vibration analysis and laser alignment.

Inventory and Parts Management

  • Maintain inventory of maintenance parts and supplies following requisition approval by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance procurement and management to ensure critical spare parts are available.
  • Track parts usage and assist in managing maintenance budgets.

Communication and Reporting

  • Complete daily supervisor report to communicate maintenance activities, plant conditions and operational issues to management.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering and other department to ensure maintenance needs are addressed.
  • Maintain maintenance documentation, records and work orders within the maintenance management system.
  • Assist with maintenance planning during plant shutdowns or scheduled maintenance outages.

Compliance and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations and applicable OSHA standards.
  • Support internal audits, safety inspections and ISO quality requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance effective and plant performance.


EQUIPMENT:

Standard maintenance tools, laser alignment equipment, vibration analysis equipment and personal computer systems.

  • Tactile/Senses – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to handle tools, equipment, computers and documentation. The employee must be able to talk and hear clearly. Vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and color recognition.

  • Standing, Walking, Sitting, and Climbing – The employee is regularly required to stand and walk throughout the plant. Occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders and structure, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Lifting - The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places, electrical hazards and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is typically high and appropriate hearing protection and other required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Ability to safely utilize standard tools for electrical and mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and electronic communication.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, technicians, contractors and vendors.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.
