Maintenance Mechanic - Collections

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for working with the Foreman of Collections/Distribution Systems to assist and complete the day to day operations of all lift stations, water booster stations and appurtenances.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of equipment repair methods in all phases of collections and distribution systems.
• Knowledge of city policies and procedures pertaining to equipment repair and maintenance.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques.
• Skill in the repair of collections and distribution equipment.
• Skill in the use of precision instruments such as micrometers and dial indicators.
• Skill in the safe use of a variety of hand and power tools.
• Skill in the use of equipment and vehicles such as gas and electric welding equipment, cranes, front-end loader, tractor, and trucks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for three to five years.
• Must complete and pass California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) Collections or Distribution correspondence course within the first 12 months of employment.
• Must be able to obtain a GAWP Class III Maintenance Technologist license within 12 months of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License from state of residency.
• Must obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) 100 and 700 within three (3) months of employment.
