RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting for all equipment used in the blown plastic films production process.
- Quickly diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues with production equipment, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Follow and execute a scheduled preventative maintenance program to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of all machinery and equipment.
- Ensure the accurate setup, calibration, and testing of production equipment to meet required specifications for film quality and thickness.
- Provide on-the-floor support to the production team by ensuring machines are operating efficiently and performing necessary repairs to avoid production delays.
- Manage and monitor inventory levels or critical spare parts and tools.
- Assist in identifying and ordering replacements parts to prevent production disruptions.
- Complete detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, part replacements, and any machine issues.
- Ensure all work orders and reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, equipment usage, guidelines, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean a safe and organized work environment to reduce risk and hazards.
- Assist with the installation of new machinery and upgrades to existing systems.
- Modify or reconfigure machinery when necessary to improve performance.
ESSENTIALS JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for maintaining and repairing production machines to ensure maximum productivity and minimal downtime.
- Implement a scheduled maintenance program to proactively address wear and tear on machinery, reducing the likelihood of unplanned downtime and ensuring equipment longevity.
- Utilize technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues, identifying root causes of machine malfunctions.
- Set up, calibrate, and adjust production machinery to ensure it operates within specified tolerances and optimally supports production goals.
- Recommend and implement improvements to mechanical systems or procedures to enhance performance, production efficiency, and product quality.
- Accurately record all maintenance activities, repairs, and machine performance, while maintaining clear and detailed records for operational and audit purposes.
- Follow safety protocols including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), machine guarding, and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures to create a safe working environment.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery.
- Proficiency in reading and interpretating technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Experience with welding, machining, and fabrication is a plus.
- Knowledge of industrial automation and PLC Systems.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, preferred.
- Certifications in industrial maintenance, or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in plastic extrusion or blown films production.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs on your own.
- Bend, crouch and stand for extended periods of time.
- Exposure to dust, dirt and noise.
Salary Range: $28.00 hourly to $32.00 hourly
This range reflects the base salary that Polyvinyl Films Inc. reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role, based on current market data. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
