Overview
Hull Forest Products is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor to lead our maintenance team and oversee the safe and efficient operation of our industrial equipment, including wood and oil-fired boiler systems. This role needs to report to management directly.
This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for supervising two maintenance team members while actively participating in troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance across the facility. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical expertise, leadership skills, and extensive experience in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and lead a team of two maintenance technicians
- Assign daily maintenance tasks and ensure timely completion
- Report directly to management on maintenance activities and facility needs
Boiler System Oversight
- Oversee operation and maintenance of industrial wood and oil-fired boiler systems
- Monitor system performance, temperatures, water levels, and safety controls
- Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Perform routine boiler maintenance (blowdowns, cleaning, ash removal, etc.)
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Maintain and repair sawmill and production equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Diagnose issues using technical manuals and hands-on inspection
- Perform repairs including disassembly, part replacement, and reassembly
Preventive Maintenance
- Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules
- Lubricate, clean, and test equipment regularly to minimize downtime
- Maintain detailed maintenance records for all machinery
Safety & Operations Support
- Respond to equipment failures and emergency repair needs
- Support overall plant operations to minimize production disruptions
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of industrial maintenance experience
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of:
- Industrial machinery and sawmill equipment
- Electrical systems (low voltage up to 480V)
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience with wood and/or boil boiler systems strongly preferred
- Welding skills (MIG, stick) required
- Basic plumbing knowledge required
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently and lead a team
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
