Maintenance / Rental Technician

Job Description

A&J Time Rentals / Crowder Rentals is seeking an experienced Maintenance / Rental Technician to join our growing equipment rental team. This is a hands-on role for a skilled professional who takes pride in maintaining equipment, supporting customers, and keeping operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, customer service skills, and experience working with construction and rental equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Rent equipment to customers and assist with equipment selection based on job needs
• Provide excellent customer service at the counter and over the phone
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair rental equipment, including:

• Trailers
• Skid steers
• Mini excavators
• Hand-held tools and small equipment

• Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety checks
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
• Prepare equipment for rental and ensure it is clean, safe, and job-ready
• Load and unload equipment safely
• Deliver and pick up rental equipment at customer job sites
• Operate trucks and trailers in compliance with safety regulations
• Maintain a clean and organized shop and yard
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with construction or rental equipment
• Strong mechanical knowledge of gas, diesel, and hydraulic systems
• Experience repairing skid steers, mini excavators, trailers, and hand tools
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to safely tow and transport equipment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• CDL (Class A or B) a plus but not required
• Equipment rental industry experience
• Welding or fabrication experience
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs

Compensation & Benefits

• $27–$31 per hour, depending on experience
