Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Position Description:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the maintenance team to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all equipment within the paperboard print manufacturing facility. This role combines technical leadership, planning, and employee development to support production goals and drive continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership & Supervision
    • Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
    • Provide coaching, training, and development to ensure technical competency and safety compliance.
  • Employee Development
    • Create and maintain individual development plans (IDPs) for maintenance team members.
    • Implement skill-based training programs to enhance technical capabilities and cross-functional knowledge.
    • Provide ongoing mentorship and coaching to support career growth and team engagement.
    • Foster a positive team culture that promotes collaboration, accountability, and high morale.
    • Set clear expectations and hold technicians accountable for performance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Onboarding & Mentorship
    • Develop and manage onboarding programs for new maintenance technicians to ensure a strong start and smooth integration.
    • Assign mentors to new hires to support their technical learning and cultural alignment.
    • Monitor onboarding progress and adjust training plans as needed.
  • Maintenance Planning & Execution
    • Coordinate with the Maintenance Scheduler to ensure timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
    • Prioritize work orders based on production needs, safety, and equipment criticality.
    • Conduct daily shift meetings to review priorities, communicate updates, and align the team on goals and expectations.
  • Troubleshooting & Support
    • Provide technical guidance during equipment breakdowns and complex repairs.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Enforce safety protocols and ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA and company standards.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and participate in incident investigations.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance documentation.
    • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed by agreed-upon deadlines; communicate promptly if deviations from the plan are necessary.
    • Submit deliverables in a professional format via email or present them during scheduled meetings, as appropriate.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Support reliability initiatives and engineering change processes (ECR).
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement process improvements.
    • Ensure root causes (RCA) of recurring issues are addressed through coordination with the Maintenance Engineer.
  • Communication & Coordination
    • Serve as the primary liaison between maintenance and production departments.
    • Communicate equipment status, maintenance schedules, and resource needs effectively.
    • Proactively communicate any barriers, delays, or resource needs as soon as they arise to minimize disruptions.
    • Respond to direct communications (email, messages, etc.) within 24 hours to maintain timely collaboration.
    • Attend and actively participate in meetings, providing clear and professional status updates on assigned tasks.
    • Ensure a daily shift report is generated to summarize key activities, updates, and issues for cross-functional visibility.
  • Quality Assurance of Maintenance Work
    • Ensure quality repairs by regularly auditing completed preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and work orders (WOs).
    • Identify gaps or inconsistencies in documentation and execution and implement corrective actions.
    • Provide feedback and coaching to technicians based on audit findings to improve work quality and reliability.
    • Verify CMMS entries are completed with attention to detail, including—but not limited to—clear descriptions of work performed, relevant parts information, time spent, and any necessary follow-up or support documentation.

Education / Experience:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams.
  • Familiarity with paperboard printing and converting equipment is a plus.
Communication Skills / Requirements:
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with management, peers and other employees. Have active listening skills, attention to detail and follow-through. Must demonstrate tact, professionalism, teamwork, flexibility, an organized approach to work and a positive attitude.
Must be authorized to work in the United States
