Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management & Supervision
- Lead, coach, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians/mechanics.
- Assign maintenance tasks, schedule shifts, and ensure coverage.
- Conduct performance reviews, training, and development of maintenance staff.
- Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Develop, schedule, and manage preventive maintenance (PM) activities.
- Oversee corrective (breakdown) maintenance, ensuring rapid response.
- Implement predictive maintenance strategies (if applicable) like vibration analysis, thermal imaging, etc.
- Plan and coordinate shutdowns or planned maintenance windows with production.
- Technical Trouble-shooting
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment failures.
- Work closely with engineering to improve machine performance and reliability.
- Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts, tools, and consumables.
- Liaise with procurement to ensure timely availability of parts.
- Optimize inventory levels to balance cost and uptime.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce and promote safe work practices, ensuring compliance with EHS regulations.
- Implement lockout/tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work, and other safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Continuous Improvement
- Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment problems.
- Propose and implement corrective/preventive measures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., TPM, Lean maintenance).
- Budget & Cost Control
- Monitor maintenance budget — labor, parts, tools.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in maintenance operations.
- Report maintenance metrics (downtime, MTBF, maintenance cost) to senior management.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate maintenance records (work orders, machine history, maintenance logs).
- Use a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for planning and tracking.
- Prepare and present regular reports (KPIs, maintenance schedule, asset health) to management.
- Project Support
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new machines or upgrades.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors for major repair or project work.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 5+ years in industrial maintenance, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role (or depending on company).
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system knowledge.
- Familiarity with PLCs, motor drives, instrumentation (if relevant to air-dryer machinery).
- Experience with CMMS.
- Soft Skills:
- Leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical mindset.
- Time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Safety Knowledge: Good understanding of workplace safety standards, LOTO, etc.
- Computer Skills: MS Office, CMMS tools, possibly basic knowledge of SAP/EAM system.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Equipment uptime / downtime (e.g., % uptime)
- Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Number of preventive maintenance tasks completed on schedule
- Maintenance cost per unit of production
- Safety incidents in maintenance
Working Conditions:
- Typically in a manufacturing plant environment — exposure to noise, machinery, high temperature, etc.
- Shift work may be required (depending on production schedule).
- On-call responsibility for breakdowns may be needed.
