Job Summary
Responsible for safety, environmental, quality, operation, optimization and improvement of production process; including training, supervision and coordination of the activities of varied personnel involved in the daily operations of the plant as directed by the Operations Manager. To keep the Plant up according to production Plans, with all Equipment running at highest performance, make sure producing Cement/Clinker and other products within quality specs is a critical key factor for this job position.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety conditions and behaviors during day-to-day operations and outage, to protect the people and the product and highlight to upper management any additional needs to close gaps and reach our safety standards under Zero incidents/accidents
- Adhere to all KOSMOS CEMENT COMPANY, MSHA, O.S.H.A., and other safety rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
- Ensure people have skills needed to perform in a safe and productive manner
- Ensure maintenance plan and work orders are organized and distributed each day
- Maintain quality control over maintenance tasks to ensure reliable equipment operation
- Enter feedback and collaborate with maintenance planner to ensure all critical items become scheduled
- Participate on safety committees, risk assessment, training, standard work, assist in developing safety programs, monitor plant operations to assist in ensuring safe job performance.
- Participate in near miss and accident investigations as needed
- Trains employees concerning operating procedures, equipment functionality, preliminary root cause of failures, Equipment internal inspections, evaluates and helps to close the gap with skills matrix, abilities, safety practices and behavior
- Assigns work schedules and authorizes overtime and time-off as permitted by the needs of the department and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and Company Policies
- Ensures that Maintenance Department tools and equipment are in good working condition and perform area inspections of various parts of the plant and maintain housekeeping efforts
- Aid in planning emergency work orders for equipment breakdown and secure resources for effective restoration of plant equipment
- Participate in the on-call rotation for maintenance coverage
- Utilize the continuous improvement program to advance the safety, efficiency of the equipment, people and plant
- Counsel and train employees as necessary
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
- Previous cement process experience is a plus.
- Experience in heavy rigging and lifting a plus
- Interpretation of mechanical and construction drawings
- Mechanical knowledge of rotating equipment and their components (Bearings, gears, motors, pumps, etc.)
- Understanding of hydraulics/pneumatics
- Proficient at Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Has supervised and led others in industrial environment; has potential to lead and grow teams and be team player.
- Detail oriented and ability to set priorities and complete goals and objectives in a timely and orderly manner
- Demonstrated trouble shooting ability through their team and collaboration with other departments
- Self-motivated, fast learner in high paced working environment
- Ability to work safely under pressure
- Follow instructions
- Apply discipline when needed
- Efficient and effective communicator (verbally and written)
- Must be able to work during off-shift hours, nights or weekends as required by the plant
- Must be able to work in hot/cold environments for extended periods. The supervisor often oversees work in the field and can be required to be outside >50% of the day
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience preferred
- At least 3-5 years’ progressive experience in industrial maintenance for a cement plant
- Must be experienced with preventative maintenance activities
- Good attitude, punctual, no history of discipline issues, willing to support the plant when needed
Working Conditions
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, dust, extreme noise and working outdoors.
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location
