The Maintenance Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of mill, industrial plant, or other establishments by performing the following duties personally or through maintenance personnel

Essential Functions: (Responsibilities, Tasks, Supervisory Needs)

  • Responsible for developing, monitoring, and evaluating maintenance policies and procedures, examining equipment, systems, or facilities, and analyzing information to determine needed repairs, services, or installations.
  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Daily collaboration and communication with other supervisors, managers, and staff members to formulate and implement policies/procedures in order to achieve goals and objectives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications: (Education, Years of Experience, Certifications)

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance
  • A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role in manufacturing maintenance
  • HS Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education & Experiences:

  • 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Prior work with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • VFD programing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules
  • Ability to lead and supervise maintenance mechanics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Work environment:

Working in a temperature-controlled production facility. Regularly working in loud or noisy environments.

Work Ability Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work in a production environment around machinery.

Use hand tools and power tools.
