Position: Maintenance Worker
Location: Ss. John and Paul Parish, Coventry RI
Job Type: Part Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly Position
Pay: $19-23/Hr, $24,480 - 30,000/Yr
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7am-1:30pm; on call during snow storms.
Looking for a Maintenance Worker to manage and perform maintenance in our facilities. Oversees and trains custodial staff, ensures smooth running of upkeep or repair operations. Responsible for maintaining a clean, presentable parish buildings and grounds.
Must be reliable, great eye for detail. Must have technical skills and knowledge of various crafts (carpentry, plumbing etc). Must have leadership and scheduling ability. Goal is to ensure facilities are in a good and safe condition at all times.
Responsibilities
- Inspects facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance.
- Supervises (and if necessary trains) parish and school custodians.
- Contacts inspectors/contractors to schedule inspections, PMs, repairs, etc.
- Monitors inventory of materials and equipment.
- Sees to the scheduled maintenance of equipment (power tools, vehicles, filters, etc).
- Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Does routine parish/school maintenance (change light bulbs, unclog drains, repair hinges, etc).
- Performs yard work and landscaping duties such as lawn mowing, trimming, raking.
- Performs and keep records of snow removal of entryways using a shovel or powered equipment.
- Performs and keep records of treatment of walkways and entryways with ice melt in winter months.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and products for above listed duties.
- Perform other tasks as required or directed.
Skills
- Job experience as maintenance supervisor/worker or similar role.
- General knowledge of building systems (electrical, heating etc.).
- Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations.
- Good planning and leadership abilities.
- An eye for detail.
- Able to read and write in English.
- Capable of performing a variety of physical tasks and movements including but not limited to lifting up to 40 lbs., standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and squatting.
- Capable of safely climbing and working on ladders up to a height of 12’.
- Able to communicate via text/cell phone/email.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma; Degree from a vocational school will be a plus.
