Job Summary

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all mechanical, electrical, and preventive maintenance activities within the steel manufacturing plant. The role ensures optimal equipment uptime, safe operations, cost-effective maintenance practices, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations

  • Lead and supervise maintenance technicians (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic).
  • Ensure preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of plant equipment such as:
  • Cranes, compressors, pumps, conveyors
  • Minimize downtime by effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Plan and execute shutdown and major overhauling activities.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate with procurement.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards.
  • Investigate equipment failures and safety incidents.

Planning & Documentation

  • Prepare maintenance schedules (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Maintain equipment history, maintenance logs, and reports.
  • Support audits (ISO, QHSE) and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Use CMMS or maintenance management systems effectively.

Leadership & Coordination

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance team performance.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, and safety departments.
  • Support commissioning of new machinery and plant modifications.
  • Control maintenance budgets and optimize costs.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in steel plants.
  • Hands-on experience with heavy industrial machinery.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex breakdowns under pressure.
  • Leadership, planning, and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.

Qualifications

  • Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of maintenance experience in a steel or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
