Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Pascagoula, MS
Company: Bird Johnson, a Fairbanks Morse Defense Company
Shift: 3rd Shift | 8:00 PM – 4:30 AM

About the Role
As an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician at Bird Johnson, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving our advanced manufacturing operations. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment, tooling, and facility systems, supporting our mission of precision, reliability, and performance in the defense industry.
This position is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented technician skilled in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Systems

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain milling and turning machines throughout the facility
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

Facilities Maintenance

• Support facility systems including HVAC, cooling towers, security access, and fire detection/suppression systems
• Assist with maintenance of foundry auxiliary and support systems

Electrical and Controls

• Troubleshoot automated equipment using PLC knowledge
• Apply the National Electric Code (NEC) for electrical repairs and installations
• Support power distribution and control systems for production equipment

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a multi-craft (electrical and mechanical) industrial maintenance technician or equivalent technical experience
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely operate cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment (training provided)
• U.S. Citizenship required (must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance)
• High School Diploma or GED required

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of multi-craft maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Manufacturing Maintenance or a related technical field (preferred)
• In-depth knowledge of:
• Power distribution systems and PLCs
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• Foundry operations and gas furnace combustion controls
• CNC and manual machine tools
• Welding, fabrication, HVAC systems, and overhead cranes (up to 125MT)
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
