Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks at SVDP-owned and operated properties throughout Greater Cincinnati. This role supports the safety, appearance, and operational integrity of facilities used to serve the community. The ideal candidate will have a broad working knowledge of building systems and a commitment to quality, timeliness, and customer service.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform maintenance and repairs to interior and exterior building systems, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and minor HVAC tasks.
- Respond to routine and emergency maintenance requests across multiple facilities.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and address issues proactively.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely project completion and cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor work performed by external parties for compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain organized, accurate records of work orders and supply use in the agency’s maintenance tracking system.
- Pick up and transport maintenance materials, tools, and equipment.
- Move and assemble furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and report hazards or maintenance risks promptly.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance or trades work.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance documentation.
- Familiarity with standard tools, materials, and equipment used in building maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills for tracking work orders and scheduling.
Preferred Competencies:
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good interpersonal communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and emergencies.
- Understanding of workplace safety, building codes, and emergency response procedures.
- Certification or training in one or more of the following trades: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or general building maintenance.
- OSHA certification, CPR/First Aid training, or other safety credentials are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent driving, standing, walking, climbing ladders, and lifting/moving items up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional crawling, kneeling, crouching, stooping, or working in confined spaces.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying indoor/outdoor conditions.
- Must be able to walk multiple flights of stairs, depending on facility location.
- Regular use of visual and auditory senses; occasional verbal communication.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors across multiple facilities. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for emergencies or special projects. Exposure to moderate noise, dust, chemicals, or temperature extremes may occur.

Travel Expectations:
This position requires regular travel between SVDP facilities across the Greater Cincinnati area. A reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license are required. Mileage reimbursement is provided according to agency policy.
