Maintenance Technician

Location: Bolingbrook, IL
Department: Operations / Maintenance
Reports To: Plant Manager

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation within a food-manufacturing environment. This position supports daily production needs through troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Troubleshoot production and facility equipment, including motors, conveyors, mixers, pumps, compressors, and other commercial machinery.
  • Work safely with 480-volt electrical systems, including basic wiring, testing, and component replacement.
  • Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other required safety procedures before performing maintenance work.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete work orders in a timely manner using CMMS or similar tracking systems.
  • Maintain tools, parts inventory, and maintenance logs according to company standards.
  • Collaborate with operations and QA teams to minimize downtime and ensure food-safety compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement, sanitation, and reliability initiatives.
  • Follow all company policies, GMP, and OSHA/MOL safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience (food-processing environment preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial-grade production equipment and related systems.
  • Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures, 480v electrical systems, and basic plumbing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Familiarity with preventive-maintenance programs and CMMS software.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a plant environment (standing, bending, climbing ladders).
  • High-school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior maintenance experience in food or beverage manufacturing or a regulated production facility.
  • HVAC, hydraulic, or pneumatic system experience.
  • Welding or fabrication skills a plus.

Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work as needed for urgent repairs or projects.
