About the Role
The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring our residents, future residents, and internal team members receive exceptional service. You will complete service orders at multiple properties throughout the Northern San Diego area. This position reports directly to the Director of Maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Complete daily work orders in alignment with Vista International standards by troubleshooting issues, identifying solutions, and gathering necessary materials.
- Utilize our online platform, Appfolio, to review and update work orders, add notes, upload photos, and log completion times.
- Travel between properties within the Long Beach area to complete maintenance tasks efficiently and professionally.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Electrical systems, components, equipment, and regulations
- Carpentry materials, installation procedures, and repair techniques
- Drywall and patching methods
- Safety hazards, personal safety practices, and equipment safety procedures
- Technological literacy, including familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and phone/computer applications such as Appfolio
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organization, effective time management, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to:
- Identify and use the correct tools and equipment
- Communicate effectively with residents, managers, and co-workers
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Recognize when to escalate issues
- Maintain patience, professionalism, and sound judgment in challenging situations
- Contribute positively to a team environment
- Demonstrate a proactive, self-starter mentality
Minimum Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma
- Work Experience: 4+ years of experience in maintenance or a similar field
Qualifications
- Willingness to travel between properties; must have reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed)
- Availability for emergency on-call needs
- Valid California driver’s license
- Ability to perform physical labor, including climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 75 lbs
