Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant works under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance team leader to
maintain Goodwill facilities and grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs basic rough and finished carpentry work in construction and repair of structures, such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, roofs, and shelves, etc. applies and prepares various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain; repairs wall coverings.
2. Performs basic electrical installation, repair and maintenance work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; Repairs and replaces ballasts, lights and light bulbs in lighting systems. Inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions.
3. Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; open clogged lines and drains; repairs or replaces faucets, valves, sinks, urinals, and commodes. Does routine maintenance on HVAC systems. Performs diagnostics on HVAC systems.
4. Maintains grounds in clean and orderly manner including mowing, trimming, weeding, aerating and fertilizing lawns; replaces plants as needed; sets sprinklers; Replaces broken sprinkler heads; maintains ground maintenance equipment; trims branches that create hazardous situations. Installs and
maintains drinking fountains; Repairs/replaces hot water heaters.
5. Maintains and properly stores/secures equipment, supplies, and tools associated with duties.
6. Transports equipment, supplies, and tools to assigned duties.
7. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver's License
PUBLIC CONTACT
Occasional routine contacts with persons outside the organization. This would include contacts with suppliers, mail service, etc.
EMPLOYEE CONTACT
Contacts occasionally with others beyond immediate associates, but generally of a routine nature. May obtain, present or discuss data, but only as pertains to an immediate and specific assignment. No responsibility for obtaining cooperation or approval of action or decision.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Outside working environment, wherein there are extremely disagreeable working conditions most of the time (e.G. Hot mix paving in constant sun).
