Job Description – Maintenance Technician

Overview

The Maintenance Technician position is a full-time, entry level role. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, and its main function is to oversee plant maintenance and equipment upkeep.

This position requires a professional who is able to manage their workload independently while seeking out and adhering to instruction and direction as needed.

Responsibilities

● Assist with the overall facilities maintenance of the Trimjoist West location

● Participate in the upkeep of the interior and exterior building and overall site maintenance by coordinating regular inspections, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and similar tasks

● Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, safety equipment, and spare parts; reorder as needed.

● Assist with vendor and supplier coordination, including requesting quotes and scheduling service calls.

● Assist in utilizing and maintaining preventative maintenance software

● Understand the capabilities of the equipment including proper use, potential safety hazards, and troubleshooting

● Follow all safety and operational procedures (special requirements of this role are ability to possibly utilize eye and ear protection)

● May train any site staff on proper use of equipment, tools, chemicals and machinery as needed

● May operate a forklift to maneuver material around work site

● May perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to periodically working in the saw department and on the assembly line

Minimum Qualifications

● High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred

● Must be age 18 or older

● Current, valid Idaho Drivers License and satisfactory driving record is preferred

● Ability to communicate effectively with team members

● Proficiency in the English language and general usage

● Experience with both manual and power equipment and tools

● Knowledge of basic worksite safety, OSHA and HAZMAT standards

● Knowledge of general manufacturing practices and procedures

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

● General electrical systems knowledge

● Experience with welding and cutting steel

● Intermediate computer skills (Typing 25 wpm, Microsoft Office Suites, Slack,

internet research and software usage)

● Experience reading blueprints

● Basic math proficiency

● Ability to work independently or within a team

● Demonstrated dependability, attendance, and punctuality

● Knowledge of general office practices and procedures

Physical Requirements

● Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing; all for either brief or extended periods of time

● Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items up to 100 lbs

● Use of manual dexterity of limbs sufficient to safely fulfill duties

● Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, clients and vendors

● Ability to operate machinery, vehicles, and work site equipment
