Maintenance Technician

We’re hiring a Full-Time Maintenance Technician to help keep our Y facilities safe, clean, and running at their best across multiple locations.

From troubleshooting HVAC and plumbing to handling repairs, safety checks, and facility upgrades—you’re the behind-the-scenes hero making it all happen.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The incumbent working intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also overseeing the maintenance and improvement of facilities and grounds. Seeking an addition to our Operations team with a high level of problem-solving skills and facility maintenance experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides coordination of facility maintenance i.e., planning and developing preventative schedule and tracking completion logs of facility requests
  • Maintain and inventory equipment, tools, and closets in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Anticipates risk, implications and possible outcomes before taking any action
  • Identify and troubleshoot commercial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, aquatic pump rooms, structural components and HVAC issues
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper usage and handling of chemicals and related equipment
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and well-maintained facility always. Along with keeping members and/or residents, participants and guests satisfied
  • Ability to manage multiple locations
  • Complete repair work including drywall, paint and paint touch ups
  • Conduct daily tasks such as trash collection, exterior light checks, landscape maintenance, custodial work, and snow removal
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA and local regulations
  • Support facility upgrades, installations, or remodeling projects
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and branch teams about ongoing maintenance issues

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED (associate degree or technical certification preferred).
  • 2–5+ years of experience in maintenance, facilities, or industrial settings.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, carpentry and other related areas
  • Upon hired complete training certification in Standard Precautions, Hazmat and chemical handling
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Basic working knowledge of pool pump room mechanics.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols.
  • Good standing driving record and must have valid driver’s license
  • Applicants must furnish their own tools and have transportation to pick up replacement parts and supplies from vendors.
  • Certifications (preferred but not required):
    • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) – highly desirable
    • HVAC, Electrical, or Mechanical Technician Certification
    • OSHA Safety Training
