Maintenance Technician

Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. Your expertise will help maintain a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment by performing routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and executing repairs across various systems. Duties

• Conduct regular inspections of machinery, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and electrical components to identify potential issues before they escalate.
• Perform repairs on appliances, HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) systems, and mechanical equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems efficiently to minimize downtime.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used for accountability and future reference.
• Assist with installation, upgrades, and preventive maintenance of building systems and equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management to ensure operational continuity.
• Follow safety protocols rigorously during all maintenance activities to protect yourself and colleagues.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and coordinate with management and external emergency services as needed, such as tenant lock-out, fire/flood/police (Building Manager and CEO will be called, Early mornings during inclement weather (ex. 6am-10am on days when shoveling/salting is needed).
• Basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry experience.
• Appliance repair skills (water heaters, furnaces, etc)

Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in appliance repair, HVAC/R systems, refrigeration, and equipment repair.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams accurately.
• Proven service technician experience with a focus on troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or electrical issues.
• Knowledge of construction practices related to facility maintenance or upgrades is a plus.
• Familiarity with air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, and HVAC components is highly desirable.
• Leadership qualities that enable effective supervision or mentorship of junior team members when needed.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.
