Job Summary:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.

Responsible for responding to a wide variety of staff and visitor needs to ensure a smooth and pleasant business experience at DAV Washington Headquarters, condos and events.

Essential Functions:
  • Inspect and maintain the physical condition of DAV Washington Headquarters, DAV Condos and AVDLM
  • Managing staff or visitor requests for housekeeping and/or maintenance
  • Maintain clean lobbies or entrance areas for staff and visitors
  • Perform basic grounds keeping and snow removal at DAV properties
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to contracts, specifications, and standards
  • Setup the arrangement of office facilities for a wide variety of functions (e.g. meetings, conferences, seminars, banquets, or other special functions)
  • Facilitate mail, package and deliveries
  • Perform basic administrative reception duties
  • Running errands to assist staff
  • Drive DAV owned, leased or rented vehicles for the transportation of DAV staff, visitors, supplies, and other business purposes
  • Assist disabled passengers into and out of vehicle. Secure passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize during trip
  • Maintain vehicles in good working condition: check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order
  • Transfer luggage, trunks, and packages to and from loading areas, vehicles, condos, hotels, or transportation terminals
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • A valid motor vehicle driver’s license (other than motorcycle) is required
  • Communication of information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone, facsimile, e-mail or text messaging
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Proficient English oral, verbal and written communication skills are required. Professionally and diplomatically communicate with people inside/outside the organization
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, or other structures such as parking lots and roads
  • Functional user of standard business computer and Microsoft Office software suite is helpful

  • Physical Demands: Lift construction equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds. Lift, kneel, bend, stoop, squat, climb, and crawl. May be exposed to loud, dirty or dusty environments on an occasional basis. Stand for up to eight hours a day or crawl for eight hours a day depending on the task required. Occasionally work at heights. Sustain repetitive hand or other joint motion. Negotiate around job sites made up of various terrains. Must be willing to tolerate exposure to temperature extremes while working outdoors, year-round, or on job sites.
  • Work Environment: Must be comfortable being around and using machinery and equipment; wearing of personal protective equipment in conjunction with the requirements of the Washington DC Occupational Health and Safety Standards and other governing bodies as applicable
