Join Our Team as a Maintenance Technician!
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring our facilities run smoothly and efficiently. This team member will take on a variety of tasks, including facility repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep related to testing and grounds. This team member is based out of our Johnston location, but may travel to other locations beyond the Des Moines metro.
Schedule
Monday- Friday typical business hours with rotating on-call responsibilities.
How You’ll Make an Impact

General testing, troubleshooting, repair, and/or replacement:
- Electrical issues such as outlets, switches, ballasts, light bulbs, and other equipment.
- Plumbing issues: clogged drains, faucets, sinks, toilets, and showers.
- Household appliances: refrigerator, dishwasher, stove/oven, washer, dryer, etc.
- HVAC equipment, thermostats, etc.
- Basic carpentry, drywall patch/repair, and painting.

Perform preventive maintenance:
- HVAC, fire door, hospital grade outlets, emergency lighting, assist with annual fire system inspections, and other safety inspections as needed.

Perform general groundskeeping:
- Mow and trim garden areas.
- Snow removal with manual and power equipment of main campus and daycare centers.

Perform general maintenance tasks, including repairs, furniture assembly, and equipment upkeep across multiple locations.
- Ensure safe and efficient use of tools and equipment while following building codes and maintaining a clean workspace.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, complete work orders on time, and respond to on-call maintenance needs as scheduled.
What You'll Need

High school diploma/equivalent

One-year experience in the maintenance field

Ability to provide own basic set of hand tools. Power and specialty tools provided by ChildServe for use

Lift up to 50 lbs, be mobile within the facilities, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand

Ability to withstand exposure to both heat and cold and contact with water and cleaning maintenance agents

Ability to become an approved driver and maintain a driving record that meets facility and insurance approval. Proof of personal automobile insurance is required. Approved drivers must be able to operate vehicles and maintenance machinery and equipment, as well as travel independently within the local area regularly, and within the state occasionally

Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
