We are looking to add a maintenance technician who will be responsible for hotel maintenance, janitorial house-person duties, conference room set up and tear down. Experience in drywall, painting, pools, spas, light electrical and plumbing is preferred. Maintenance techs (MT) primary focus will be maintaining the properties operational needs. The MT’s main objective is to maintain/repair equipment along with the structure of the hotel. Duties may involve carpentry, carpet repair, plumbing, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, and repair of kitchen appliances, PTACs. Repairing interior/exterior walls, siding, roof, landscape, concrete, along with interior carpet, floors, or stairs. Depending on business needs, MT may be asked to prep rooms, and assist with cleaning duties as well. Ideally, this person is personally committed to assure all known issues are repaired at the end of each shift of work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
- Ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives.
- Complete all work orders in a timely fashion, communicate with your leader and other rooms leaders.
- Assist team in maintaining grounds free of debris, snow, and trash.
- Keep all mechanical areas in a neat and orderly condition.
- Carry out inspection on public areas on a daily basis in case of problems arising unexpectedly.
- Complete maintenance and repairs to public areas, guestrooms and offices.
- Carry out consistent preventive maintenance programs on rooms and regularly updates records on files.
- Guarantee that projects are all promptly accomplished and in line with appropriate specifications.
- Work together with the guest service agents, housekeeping, along with the food and beverage team.
- Connect with the General Manager to discuss any aspect of operations which will involve the maintenance department.
- Carry out assessment of requirements for completion of reports, or work orders to the management as stated by standard procedures.
- Engage in flexible work schedules to be able to perform well during emergencies.
- Assist in remodeling and construction of new projects as may be required.
- Will pick up additional duties when needed, such as food services, and cleaning.
- Interior and exterior painting, repairing damaged walls and drywall, replacing windows, hanging cabinets, repairing kitchen counters, installing carpet, baseboard, and vinyl tiles
- Removes damaged appliances and installs replacement microwaves, sinks, refrigerators, and stovetops.
- Performs general carpenter-related tasks as well as landscaping and parking lot repairs.
- Assists with completion of the preventative maintenance checklist and completes minor repair work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, lighting fixtures, etc.
- To maintain the hotel and keep product quality to standard
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
- PTAC repair/replacement, water heater repair or replacement, commercial washer/dryer repair.
- Assists in checking electrical systems such as PTAC, light switches, electrical panels, television sets, and lighting systems, and makes minor repairs and/or replacements.
- Assists in checking and making minor repairs on general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, toilets, sinks, and kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Be proficient in all major trades; HVAC, plumbing, low voltage electric, carpentry, and painting.
- Have competency in managing vendor relationships.
- 2-3+ years of previous engineering skills required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly responsible & reliable.
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
- Consistently offers professional, friendly, and engaging service.
