Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the completion of all maintenance requests as assigned. This position is also responsible for alerting the Facilities Manager of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that have taken place or that may occur. Employees at this level are expected to perform minor repairs and improvements in a variety of trades under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
Job Description
Essential Functions

Assists with performing preventive maintenance and repairs of Goodwill facilities and equipment including, but not limited to, minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as replacing light bulbs and fuses; minor carpentry work.

Maintains machinery, equipment and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing and/or oiling to ensure optimum working order.

Applies paint, varnish, and stain to all types of surfaces, as directed, to protect and beautify surfaces using appropriate tools and equipment.

Interprets blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and work orders.

Monitors and inspects heating and cooling systems to ensure continued proper operation.

Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Estimates cost of repairs. Repairs parts, or locates, picks up, and installs parts as needed.

Checks belts, filters, clean units and run diagnostics test on a regular basis.

Assesses drain issues and performs repairs as needed.

Uses a variety of hand tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.

Detects faulty operations, defective material and reports those and any unusual situations to the Facilities Manager.

Determines amount of airflow required to keep carbon dioxide at a safe level; ensures this level is maintained.

Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.

Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.

Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times.

Regular, reliable attendance, as defined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.

Performs other work related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Education
A high school diploma/GED is required and completion of a craft apprenticeship.
Experience
-
At least one year experience in one or more of the skilled trades.

Certifications and Licenses

Valid State of Tennessee Driver’s License
