Huvepharma in Saint Louis, MO, is seeking a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician III, for its pharmaceutical production facility. This role will perform both mechanical and electrical tasks independently and be responsible for performing scheduled calibrations on specific equipment at the site. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; entering and scheduling Preventive Maintenance activities, coordinating outside contractors and vendors, equipment maintenance and repair, and maintaining site utilities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a relevant field and 5+ years proven experience as a Maintenance Tech or similar role.
- 5+ years’ experience with general maintenance procedures and techniques, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other mechanical systems.
- 3+ years’ experience in Calibrations.
- Prefer experience in repair work in one or more fields of welding, pipefitting, carpentry, and masonry work.
- Prefer experience installing plant equipment, performing equipment and instrument calibrations, and maintaining a Preventative Maintenance System.
Technical Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and regulations and will work safely by adhering to all policies, procedures and training and use of company-provided resources.
- Ability to work with the Maintenance Supervisor, site personnel, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Ability to perform job with minimum direction for routine functions, and acts from oral or written instructions
- Good oral and written communication skills, basic math skills, and report writing skills.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, manuals and schematics.
- Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by adhering to all policies, procedures and training and use of company-provided resources
- Inspect/maintain electrical equipment such as fuses, power panels, and supplies, motor starter/controls, inverters, and variable frequency drives by checking for voltage, continuity/resistance, and amperage by using appropriate electrical test equipment.
- Maintains awareness of troubleshooting hot spots by observing equipment operation and listening for calls on a two-way radio.
- Inspects, adjusts, and maintains electronic equipment such as programmable logic controllers, input/output consoles, sensors, and relays, in accordance with electrical color coding.
- Inspects, adjusts, disassembles, repairs, reassembles mechanical equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pulleys, belt/chain drives, and clutches using hand and power tools, gear pullers, and chain hoists, changing gear sprockets to adjust speed. Stops machinery, locks out, troubleshoots high-speed production problems, repairs, and re-starts equipment to test repair.
- Troubleshoots electrical problems by locating information on and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams.
- Wire and unwire single, three-phase, and DC motors.
- Troubleshoots work-related problems by observing operating conditions, reviewing maintenance and repair histograms, discussing problems with operators, reading maintenance manuals, adjusting and repairs, and observing to verify problem solutions.
- Rebuilds replaces and repairs valves and pumps using hand tools,
- Replaces worn or damaged components such as fittings, bearings, gaskets, seals, cylinders, and servo valves using hand and power tools as required.
- Skills supporting IQ/OQ/PQ activities.
- Experience working with CMMS software.
- Planning services of vendors and contractors.
- Inventory controls for maintenance materials / spare parts.
- Understanding of Preventive Maintenance programs, Calibrations, and EH&S compliance.
- Maintains an orderly work area throughout shift following 5-S and replacing tools when finished and discarding unusable parts and other trash and boxing up usable parts such as pumps and motors to send to vendors for repair.
- Prefer experience performing equipment and instrument calibrations.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Performs various periodic safety inspections such as fire extinguishers, fire sprinkler valves, fire doors, eye wash stations and similar devices.
- Performs tasks assigned through work orders and preventive maintenance through maintenance program.
- Performs periodic inspection and lubrication of plant equipment.
- Performs mechanical repairs to equipment.
- Maintains replacement parts inventory and maintenance supplies. Maintains files of vendors, suppliers and equipment service records.
- Performs tasks in a timely and professional manner.
- Removes snow from roadways and sidewalks and performs ground maintenance work as required.
- Troubleshoots equipment and machinery failures.
- Follows all relevant GMP, OSHA, EPA and Huvepharma safety procedures.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned
- Attends weekly shift meetings for required safety training, quality issues, and company updates
- Performs calibration activities on site equipment per equipment specifications using NIST standards. Updates all equipment calibration stickers.
- Documents “as found” and “as left” conditions and calibration test points for each piece of equipment calibrated.
- Reports all Out of Tolerance calibrations to equipment owners and to site management.
- Tracks calibration schedules to ensure calibrations are completed on time in order to prevent equipment down time or delay manufacturing.
- Ensures that all calibration standards are calibrated.
- Will be required to go in to the facility during off hours to investigate and reset alarms as needed.
