Maintenance Worker I- Golf (PT)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Part-time position includes weekends and some holidays. Pay rate $18.00 per hour.

Under direct supervision, performs unskilled to semi-skilled work maintaining grounds at the City Golf Course. Work involves mowing and maintaining golf course tees, fairways, rough, lake banks, greens, and sand traps, and equipment used. Utilizes all equipment and tools necessary to maintain golf course. Employee is also responsible for assisting in course set up and policing grounds for debris, as necessary. Reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operates light tractors, specialized mowing equipment and string trimmers; mows tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens.

Performs various grounds maintenance duties including watering greens, raking sand traps, aerating greens, edging cart paths and sand traps, etc.; plants sod in bare spots on golf course, as instructed; prunes trees.

Assists in setting up course by changing pin and tee placements; replaces tee towels; maintains golf ball washers.

Polices golf course and grounds around clubhouse and pro shop, picking up papers, cans, bottles and other debris, as necessary.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school and 1 to 2 years of experience in landscape maintenance work, preferably on a golf course; or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including lawn mowers, edgers, tractors, etc. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The job is rated for Medium Work.
