MAINTENANCE WORKER I / LITTER CONTROL

Essential Job Functions

1. Cleans up canals and City right of way; Removes road debris.

2. Operates safely when working outside within the City to include safety equipment; flagging; set cones; and signs.

3. Performs manual labor (shoveling; digging; sweeping; etc.)

4. Loads and unloads materials.

5. Maintains and services equipment.

6. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • One (1) year construction or maintenance experience.

  (A comparable amount of training; education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

  
  

LICENSES; CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

• Valid Class “E” FL Driver’s license

KNOWLEDGE; SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to construction work.
• Knowledge of the principles and methods of operating equipment safely.
• Knowledge of storm drainage maintenance and canal maintenance.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to calculate and measure to determine material needed.
• Ability to maintain tools and equipment.
• Skill in the use of common hand tools and power-driven equipment.

• Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)
• Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid)
• Ability to communicate orally.
