Major Gifts Officer

Together with the Director of Leadership Giving, you will play a key role in developing and implementing major gift strategies to support both annual and campaign goals. You will work alongside passionate colleagues and community leaders to secure transformational support for the Museum’s programs, exhibitions, and educational initiatives. Summary

The Major Gifts Officer supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by developing, planning, and implementing major gift strategies for assigned donors and identifying new prospects. As a key member of the Development team, this position contributes to the achievement of the Museum’s fundraising goals. This position works independently and collaboratively to build and sustain relationships with donors, to secure meaningful major gifts for annual and multi-year campaign purposes, and to foster a culture of philanthropy among Museum staff, the Board of Trustees, and all supporters.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in philanthropic studies, nonprofit administration, other relevant degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Five years of successful professional development in fundraising experience that includes high-level asks to donors with significant financial capacity.

Knowledge

• A sound understanding of major donor fundraising philosophy and strategy; familiarity with our local donor base, a plus.

Skills

• Proven people skills; comfortable interacting in both large and small groups; able to work in a team environment; and strong volunteer management experience.
• Proven oral and written communication skills along with good listening skills.
• Donor database proficiency is essential with Raiser's Edge experience preferred.
• Computer proficiency in a Microsoft Windows environment.

Abilities

• Ability to be exceptionally detail oriented.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment as well as independently with self-initiative and minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple priorities.

License & Certification

• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.

• This full-time exempt position regular work week is Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.
• Professional attire is required.
• Able and willing to work additional hours including evenings and weekends based on Museum need.
• Onsite attendance is essential to perform some of the duties of this position.
• Some travel, primarily locally, may be required for this position as well as extended work week that may include occasional evening and weekend work.

• Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds with assistance.
• Normal office conditions apply, including repetitive wrist and arm movement and long periods of sitting, or standing.

• This position requires one to be able to travel which may subject one to inclement weather, flight delays or other travel-related inconveniences.

The Museum of Flight offers full-time employees a generous and comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% match after 1 year of service, Employee Assistance Program, as well as company paid life insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and long-term disability.

Paid-Time Off

Our paid time-off plans include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave and 2 weeks of vacation (80 hours each) per year, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $112,000 depending on experience.

Should you receive an offer, please expect that it can fall anywhere within this range. A multitude of factors will determine a fair salary based on the following: scope of role within the organization, years of relevant experience, specific skills, and evaluation of capability to execute in role successfully (among other critical factors).
