Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Make Ready Designer to join our innovative team. The Make Ready Designer is responsible for preparing aerial utility pole attachment designs and supporting broadband deployment projects through utility coordination, design development, and make ready package preparation.
This role works closely with project managers, engineers, fielding teams, and utility companies to ensure aerial fiber designs comply with utility standards, NESC requirements, and joint use attachment regulations.
The ideal candidate has experience in telecom or utility infrastructure design and understands aerial construction, pole attachments, and make ready workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare make ready design packages for aerial fiber deployment projects
- Review field collection data, utility pole information, and construction prints
- Develop aerial attachment layouts and construction-ready drawings
- Support pole loading analysis and clearance reviews
- Coordinate with utility companies and internal engineering teams
- Identify pole replacement, transfer, riser, and clearance requirements
- Assist with joint use and pole attachment application preparation
- Review overlash and new attachment designs for compliance
- Maintain accurate project documentation and tracking systems
- Support QA/QC review processes to ensure design accuracy
- Assist in resolving utility comments and engineering revisions
- Work within client schedules and project deadlines
Qualifications Required
- 1+ years of telecom, utility, or OSP design experience
- Understanding of aerial fiber construction and utility pole attachments
- Familiarity with joint use and make ready processes including NESC violation callouts
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and utility standards
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project tracking software
- Ability to multitask and complete assigned tasks that are outside your job position

- Knowledge of NESC standards
- Utility coordination or permitting experience
