Position Summary
We are seeking a Male Specimen Collection Technician to join our team. This role is vital to ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our testing services. The technician will be responsible for the proper collection, handling, and documentation of biological specimens in compliance with regulatory and confidentiality standards. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong administrative skills to support scheduling, recordkeeping, paperwork distribution, and customer service. This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to perform sensitive tasks with consistency and discretion.
Note: Due to the nature of the work, this position must be filled by a male applicant.
Key Responsibilities
- Specimen Collection & Testing – Accurately collect and process urine, breath, hair, and saliva specimens in compliance with regulations, Chain of Custody, and quality standards.
- Documentation & Compliance – Complete required paperwork and digital records with precision, maintaining full compliance with regulatory guidelines and confidentiality requirements.
- Client Service & Site Support – Provide professional, respectful service to clients and partners; travel to client sites as needed (including occasional overnight assignments).
- Technology & Records Management – Proficiently use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), manage digital records (scanning, filing, retrieving documents), handle email correspondence, and navigate web-based systems to support daily operations.
- Administrative Support – Manage office tasks including scheduling, filing, document distribution, supply ordering, phone/email correspondence, scanning/faxing, and point-of-sale transactions.
- Operational Support – Assist management with workflow improvements to support organizational efficiency.
- Confidentiality & Professional Standards – Safeguard sensitive information in line with HIPAA and company policies while consistently modeling professionalism and reliability.
Qualifications
Required
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Reliable transportation with current insurance.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Professional presence, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have mid-level computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), email, web-based applications, manage digital files, and learn new software.
- Flexibility to work primarily weekdays with occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
Preferred
- Some college coursework or training in a medical or health-related field.
- Prior experience in an administrative, office, or clinical support role.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in a professional office or administrative environment with proven reliability and attention to detail.
- Background in customer service, healthcare, or laboratory/testing environments is highly valued.
- Must be computer proficient with a working knowledge of computers and office software. - Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information, follow established procedures, and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
Compensation & Schedule
- Starting wage: $17.50/hour (DOE).
- Schedule: Part-time, generally DAY SHIFT 25–30 hours per week, with occasional evening, weekend, or full-time coverage as needed.
- Advancement: Opportunity for full-time placement and performance-based wage increases after 4–6 months of proven excellence.
- Travel: Paid travel provided for assignments throughout the state.
