THE FAMILY | This warm, active Malibu-based family is seeking a second career nanny to join their household as they prepare to welcome their second child in October. They currently employ a full-time nanny and housekeeper, both of whom they greatly value, and are looking to thoughtfully expand their team with the right long-term fit.
The ideal candidate will be able to begin with consistent morning coverage and, depending on their experience, interest, and how the family’s needs evolve once the baby arrives, may be able to provide occasional overnight support during the postpartum period. A strong background in newborn and infant care is essential. The family may also choose to hire a dedicated overnight newborn care specialist.
This role requires someone who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and communicates well with both parents and fellow household staff. The family values professionalism, reliability, and a positive, can-do attitude.
Both parents maintain full and active schedules. The mother is currently home full-time, focusing on personal projects and attending regular prenatal appointments, while the father works from an office and travels frequently for work.
Given the father’s demanding schedule and the importance of consistent support in the home, the family places a high value on reliability and dependability. They are seeking a nanny who is proactive, engaged, nurturing, and committed to providing steady, consistent coverage as part of a collaborative team.
The family also has a friendly, medium-sized dog. Responsibilities related to the dog are minimal and include morning feeding and occasional bathroom breaks.
Given the location, the family strongly prefers candidates who live within a 45-minute commute to ensure consistency and long-term sustainability in the role.
This is a long-term position with a guaranteed 20–30 hours per week. There is a strong opportunity for increased hours, including extended or overnight shifts, once the baby arrives, for candidates who can provide that support.
THE NEWBORN | The family is expecting their second child, due in early to mid-October. While the baby’s gender is currently unknown, the family is thoughtfully planning ahead to ensure they have the right support in place during the postpartum period and beyond.
Although their needs will evolve once the baby arrives, in an ideal scenario, if their newborn has sleep patterns similar to their first child, the family may be open to the morning nanny providing occasional overnight support during the first few months. This would be entirely optional and based on the candidate’s interest and experience, as the family is equally open to hiring a dedicated overnight newborn care specialist. They anticipate needing the most consistent overnight coverage between months two and five postpartum.
This is a particularly important and sensitive time for the household, and the family places a high value on reliability and dependability, especially during the holiday season, to ensure consistent, uninterrupted coverage.
Flexibility will be essential in this role, as both nannies will be expected to work collaboratively and adjust schedules as needed to best support the family during this transition.
THE DAUGHTER | Approximately 31 months old, she is described as an independent, curious, and spirited little girl who loves exploring the world around her. Her interests include nature, outdoor play, arts, music, and dancing. She is playful, affectionate, and full of personality.
She currently attends a two-year-old program 5 mornings per week for approximately 3 hours. The program has the potential to lead to slightly longer days over time.
She has already grown very attached to the current full-time nanny and enjoys spending time with her each day.
THE PARENTING PHILOSOPHY | The parents approach childcare with warmth, respect, and love at the center of all interactions. They prioritize redirection over negative reinforcement and view discipline as an opportunity to establish healthy, age-appropriate boundaries that support their children’s growth and development.
They expect their nannies to uphold these boundaries consistently, serving as a true extension of their parenting philosophy and maintaining a cohesive, respectful environment for the children.
The family maintains a largely screen-free home. Occasional screen time may be permitted during travel or long car rides, and only at the parents’ discretion.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | The ideal candidate is a seasoned career nanny with experience caring for both newborns and toddlers, and a genuine passion for supporting early childhood development. They are seeking a long-term role and live within a 45-minute commute to Malibu.
They are professional, warm, reliable, and discreet, with a collaborative approach and the ability to integrate smoothly into a fully staffed household while respecting established dynamics.
A calm, nurturing, and intuitive presence is essential, balanced by an engaging, playful energy with the children. The candidate is emotionally attuned, patient, and confident in supporting both a toddler and a newborn, while providing thoughtful, respectful support to the mother during the postpartum period.
Flexibility is key as the family’s needs evolve. The schedule will begin with mornings and may expand into longer days and, if mutually agreed upon, occasional overnight support during the postpartum phase. Overnight newborn experience is a plus, though not required, as the family may also engage a dedicated overnight specialist.
They have strong English communication skills (Spanish is a plus) and are proactive, detail-oriented, and self-directed in managing all child-related responsibilities—maintaining children’s spaces, preparing simple, healthy meals, restocking supplies, and handling laundry and wardrobe organization. A love of cooking is a bonus.
The candidate is confident in all aspects of infant care, including sanitizing bottles and feeding items, maintaining diapering areas, and tracking developmental milestones. Additional child-related tasks are handled as needed with a thoughtful, organized approach.
A clean driving record and clear background check are required. The candidate must have a reliable vehicle and be comfortable using both their own and the family’s car for school drop-offs, pick-ups, and outings as the role evolves.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
THE SCHEDULE | Monday through Friday, with start times between 6 and 7 AM, for a six‑hour morning shift, with the flexibility to work additional hours.
The family would love coverage on at least one weekend day, ideally every other week, with details coordinated alongside their current nanny so total hours stay balanced and not one nanny works every weekend (unless that is preferred by the new morning nanny due to wanting additional hours)
This role includes travel, overnights, and weekends. Advance notice will be given. Travel will be rotated between the two nannies, so not all travel will fall on one of them.
THE RATE | $35 to $40 hour, guaranteed hours and paid leave.
THE START DATE | May 2026
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
