Manager, Accounting & Reporting

Candidates should be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, within commuting distance of the Company's Emeryville, CA headquarters. This is a remote position with the expectation that the candidate will work in the Emeryville office at least two days per month.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Accounting and Reporting role is a key contributor leading the Accounting Team and serving as a subject matter expert (SME) in Investments, Equity and Compensation accounting. The Manager will work closely with the Finance Team, collaborate with colleagues across the organization and engage with third-party vendors and consultants to drive the ongoing development of the Company's accounting and reporting function.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the monthly financial close for individual entities and consolidated GAAP and Statutory accounting.
  • Act as a technical SME for SEC and Statutory filings, including the annual Proxy and various quarterly and annual reports.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors to ensure thorough and timely reviews for quarterly and annual deliverables.
  • Manage accounting for fixed income investments, ensuring accurate cost basis, fair value, and general ledger (GL) reconciliations and reporting.
  • Oversee accounting for payroll, share-based compensation, common stock, and additional paid-in capital (APIC).
  • Manage the calculation and reporting of quarterly basic and diluted Earnings Per Share (EPS).
  • Perform and review complex accounting research; draft whitepapers and memoranda to support accounting conclusions.
  • Design and execute accounting processes with a focus on SOX and Model Audit Rule (MAR 205) documentation.
  • Identify and evaluate technology solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy and to automate close and reporting procedures.
  • Recommend and manage the implementation of procedural changes as needed to analyze key metrics and ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of reports.
  • Coach, mentor, and guide direct reports, providing regular, constructive, and actionable feedback to foster professional growth.
  • Act as a leader within the finance management team to provide resources and guidance on complex accounting issues.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics. CPA or MBA, a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a public company or public accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in US GAAP is required; working knowledge of statutory accounting is a significant plus.
  • Advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables and other advanced features) required and experience with Enterprise GL systems and BI solutions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SOX and MAR 205 internal control framework preferred.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong narrative writing skills for technical memos and the ability to present impactful graphics to leadership.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines in fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to handle highly sensitive data – including executive compensation, equity grants, and payroll information – with the utmost integrity.
Base Salary: $123,000 - $155,000

  • Posted Base Salary Range applies to current posting and may change in the future. The posted Base Salary Range may vary for key factors including, but not limited to, location, experience and skill set.
