Job Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Supply Chain and Operations Manager to lead our distribution facility’s daily activities. You will be responsible for translating our strategic vision into actionable daily processes, ensuring that goods move efficiently from arrival to final delivery. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can balance cost-effective logistics with exceptional customer service while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operations Oversight: Manage the end-to-end flow of goods, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Process Optimization: Design and implement lean workflows to improve cycle times, reduce waste, and increase overall throughput.
- Inventory & Resource Management: Oversee inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and ensure optimal resource allocation (staffing and equipment) to meet fluctuating demands.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team, conducting performance reviews and promoting employee engagement and safety.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Develop and manage operational budgets, monitoring P&L and implementing cost-saving initiatives in transportation and warehousing.
- Vendor & Carrier Management: Negotiate contracts and monitor the performance of 3PL providers, freight forwarders, and suppliers to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure the facility remains 100% compliant with OSHA, DOT, and local labor regulations, maintaining a secure and hazard-free work environment.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze real-time operational data and KPIs (e.g., order accuracy, on-time delivery) to prepare reports for senior leadership.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management,
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive management experience in a distribution or 3PL environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP software (e.g., Tally), and data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret complex data to identify bottlenecks and forecast future business needs.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and cross-functional communication abilities.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- Order Fulfillment Accuracy: Target >99.8%.
- On-Time Delivery Rate: Consistent achievement of delivery schedules.
- Inventory Accuracy: Maintain high levels through strict cycle counting.
- Cost per Order: Continuously seek reductions through process improvements.
- Safety Incident Rate: Aim for zero recordable incidents.
