Position Overview

Simsbury Community Media (SCM) is seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven Manager of Community Engagement & Business Development to serve as the primary community liaison. This role focuses on growing the organization’s visibility, revenue, and community support through outreach, fundraising, marketing, digital campaigns, and volunteer engagement. The Manager will play a central role in ensuring SCM’s sustainability by building strong partnerships, increasing financial resources, and expanding public awareness of our mission.

The Manager of Community Engagement and Development reports directly to the SCM Board President and collaborates closely with the Production team to ensure alignment between community impact and content delivery.

Core Responsibilities

  • Fundraising & Revenue Development: Create and lead fundraising campaigns, secure sponsorships, pursue grant opportunities, and cultivate donor relationships. Research and implement donor tracking system.
  • Community Outreach & Partnerships: Serve as SCM’s primary representative in the community, building and maintaining relationships with citizens, local organizations, schools, and town officials.
  • Volunteer Program Management: Design, recruit, and manage a structured volunteer program and student interns that expand community participation in station operations and programming.
  • Marketing, PR & Digital Engagement: Oversee SCM’s public relations strategy, including social media, website messaging, digital campaigns, newsletters, and community announcements.
  • Event Planning & Campaigns: Plan and execute community engagement events, fundraising activities, volunteer recognition events, and awareness campaigns.
  • Strategic Growth: Work with the Board to develop and implement strategies that increase SCM’s visibility, resources, and long-term sustainability.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Provide monthly reports to the Board on such metrics as outreach activities, fundraising performance, and volunteer engagement metrics.
  • Internal Collaboration: Works closely with SCM Board, technical/production team and may oversee production projects and staff.
  • Office Administration: Provide detailed recording keeping and maintain updated policies, procedures.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, community engagement, and/or nonprofit development.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to design and lead effective marketing and outreach campaigns.
  • Experience managing volunteers or community programs a plus.
  • Passion for community media and civic engagement.
  • A background in marketing is preferred.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
