Job Title: Manager – Engineering (Maintenance, Electrical & Utility)

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Plant Head / Operations Manager

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the Maintenance, Electrical, and Utility functions to ensure high equipment reliability, uninterrupted plant operations, safety compliance, and cost-effective engineering solutions within a lubricants manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance Management

  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance plans for all mechanical equipment, blending units, filling lines, pumps, conveyors, and storage systems.
  • Ensure minimum breakdowns and maximize equipment availability through systematic maintenance practices.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate with procurement for timely availability.
  • Ensure documentation of maintenance activities in CMMS/ERP systems.
  • Plan shutdowns, overhauls, and long-term maintenance activities, ensuring timely execution within budget.

2. Electrical Systems Management

  • Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of plant electrical systems including LT/HT panels, transformers, DG sets, motors, VFDs, PLC/SCADA systems, and plant lighting.
  • Ensure electrical safety compliance, load management, and energy-efficient operations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical failures and manage upgrades or modifications as required.
  • Conduct load analysis, energy audits, and efficiency improvement projects.
  • Monitor and ensure power factor, harmonics, and electrical health parameters remain within acceptable limits.

3. Utility Operations

  • Manage the performance and reliability utilities such as boilers, air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems, and water treatment units.
  • Optimize energy usage and ensure consistent supply of utilities for uninterrupted production.
  • Monitor utility parameters and drive energy-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure utility systems operate within safety, cost, and quality parameters.

4. Project Engineering

  • Lead engineering projects including plant expansion, equipment installation, layout changes, and automation initiatives.
  • Prepare technical specifications, evaluate vendors, and manage project budgets and timelines.
  • Coordinate installation & commissioning of new equipment.

5. Safety, Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
  • Maintain documentation such as maintenance logs, calibration records, PM schedules, and audit reports.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures and implement corrective actions.

6. Team Leadership

  • Supervise and develop maintenance, electrical, and utility teams through training and performance management.
  • Allocate workload, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to SOPs and best practices.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with statutory rules, ISO standards, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of zero-accident and safe work practices.

7. Cost & Inventory Control

  • Manage engineering budgets, spare parts inventory, and service contracts for cost-effective operations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through optimization, standardization, and reliability improvements.
  • Present periodic reports to senior management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 8–10 years of experience in Maintenance/Engineering within lubricants, FMCG, chemical, or related manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of lubrication processes, blending operations, filling lines, and utility systems.
  • Experience with CMMS software, automation systems, energy management and reliability engineering tools.

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based, with occasional visits to manufacturing unit, etc.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to ₹600,000.00 per year
