Provide internal and citywide leadership and coordination for the development and implementation of the City's enterprise, community and geographic-focused (e.g. Promise Zone) racial equity and inclusion efforts. This work is focused on eliminating Minneapolis' racial and placed-based disparities.
Position Description/Summary: The Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (REIB) Department plays a central role in helping the City of Minneapolis live its values by embedding racial equity and racial healing into how decisions are made, resources are allocated, and services are delivered. The department develops and stewards the City’s racial equity and racial healing framework, builds staff capacity through training and technical support, and partners across departments to integrate racial equity into strategic planning, budgeting, and core operations. REIB also uses data, tools, and accountability measures to track progress and move the City from well-intended commitments to real, system-level change.
REIB is seeking an Equity and Inclusion Manager to help lead this work and deepen the City’s impact. This role provides strategic leadership, supervises a team of three talented staff, and supports the design and implementation of projects and initiatives that advance racial equity and racial healing across Minneapolis. Reporting to the REIB Director, the manager collaborates closely with City departments and community and institutional partners to embed racial equity and racial healing into policies, programs, and everyday practices. Key responsibilities include supporting equity-centered decision-making, using data to evaluate outcomes by race, and helping develop policy, training, and learning resources that support lasting change. This position is ideal for a leader who is energized by systems change, skilled at collaboration, facilitation, project management and ready to help make racial equity a core operating principle——across the City.
Work Location - This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
At least five years of related experience, in a position requiring comparable work, including experience in a lead role creating transformational change in a complex organization, while overseeing and supervising staff.
