About NMPA:

Founded in 1917, the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) is the trade association representing all American music publishers and their songwriting partners. Its mission is to protect, promote, and advance the interests of music’s creators.

The primary responsibilities of the Manager, External Affairs include public relations, communications, web, social media and graphics development as well as supporting events in Washington DC, Nashville, Los Angeles, New York City, and beyond.

The ideal candidate will have a background in communications with 3-5 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree. Events experience is a plus.

They will report to the EVP, External Affairs, Charlotte Sellmyer. Position requires some travel.

Duties:

· Assist in drafting and sending of press releases, member communications and other written content

· Monitor relevant news

· Research for and help create presentations

· Utilize industry analysis to produce relevant charts and visuals

· Develop content for and help manage social media

· Update and help build out website content

· Create graphics, signage, brochures and other content for events

· Staff events on-site, assisting all event activities including list management and logistics

· Support and assist talent outreach

· Maintain and grow multiple contact lists for press and event related purposes

· Support SONGS Foundation events including fundraising and managing donors and sponsors

· Assist in NMPA Gold & Platinum Program research and related Club activities

Skills: The Manager, External Affairs should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must have outstanding attention to detail and be a self-starter and creative thinker. Ideal candidates will have a passion for music and enjoy promoting music creators. Strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce, and other contact and event management software preferred.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
