University Financial Services (UFS), also known as the Controller Department, supports the university’s mission of instruction and support by providing efficient and effective accounting and finance services and support for PSU faculty, staff, and students. These services are provided by three departments comprising Financial Reporting, Campus Accounting Services, and Project Accounting. The Controller’s office also provides technical support in Banner Finance and training. The UFS team is dedicated to providing exemplary service to the campus through collaboration, partnership and teamwork.
Position Summary
The Manager, Financial Services Center position is a leadership role reporting to Assistant Controller and dedicated to driving operational excellence within PSU’s Financial Service Center.
The Manager directly oversees the Financial Service Center team responsible for Accounts Payable and Procurement Card processes, as well as certain aspects of Vendor Management and Travel. The position ensures all functions are executed with peak efficiency, precision, and adherence to professional standards. All responsibilities will be conducted with a special focus on maintaining an impeccable level of customer service to our campus constituents. Beyond managing daily accounting activities and supervising a diverse team of classified staff, the position is responsible for continuous process improvement and the implementation of lean workflows. This position will also serve as a key administrative contact to facilitate engaging and collaborative relationships with staff and unit leadership across the campus.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Service center leadership and supervision.
- Policy procedure and guidance.
- Compliance reporting and administrative oversight.
- Fiscal integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- 4-6 years professional experience.
- Highly developed analytical and communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Thorough knowledge of state regulations and agency policy and the ability to interpret policy to University personnel.
- Demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness in motivating employees and implementing procedures to streamline processes and improve customer service across campus.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or MBA.
- Higher education experience.
- Managing a team within a unionized environment.
- Experience with Banner FIS.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
The starting annual salary for this position will be between $74,232 and $98,364, dependent on education, knowledge, skills and experience.
