The Jacksonville Public Library is actively seeking a Manager for Library Events.This is an appointed position reporting to the Assistant Director-Deputy Chief Librarian for Support Services and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing events that support the mission of the Jacksonville Public Library (Library). As a member of the Library's leadership team (LRT), the Manager for Library Events (MLE) delivers results by expanding the Library’s reach and impact through successful events developed in collaboration with internal team members and external individuals and organizations. The MLE is responsible for planning and delivery of key systemwide and Main Library events, while also establishing best practices and serving as an advisor to branch library staff hosting events across the city. The MLE establishes, maintains, and strengthens systemwide event partnerships that align with the Library’s strategic priorities.Do you want to earn four (4) weeks off during your first year of employment? EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Leads large events with clear direction and focus, ensuring teams understand priorities and deliverables and achieve planned results. Develops thorough event plans – including timelines, budgets, logistics, goals, and security needs. Makes timely, informed decisions during event execution, including staff assignments and real-time adjustments to ensure successful outcomes. Represents the Library at events as a visible, engaged, and professional community partner. Serves as the primary point of contact for Library staff partners, and vendors involved in events. Evaluates events to ensure alignment with the Library’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities, recommending improvements, creating clear objectives, and setting measurable goals. Guides library staff and affinity groups with event planning and implementation that supports Library initiatives. Develops and delivers presentations to community groups, partners, and internal teams, ensuring information is clear, compelling and aligned with Library goals. Collaborates with Library leadership and staff on the development and implementation of event-related policies and procedures. Supports the overall mission of the Library by providing customer service in a manner that creates a positive customer experience. Assists with maintaining appearance standards by reporting facilities issues and picking up litter on library grounds.Performs related work as required.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Three (3) years of experience in libraries, event management, project management, non-profit management, or related fields. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Experience at a large and diverse library system is preferred. Preferred Attributes: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. The ideal person for this job would be professionally mature: have the ability to solve problems and work with minimal supervision, have good judgment as well as being personable, professional, patient, have a take charge attitude, multitask, and have the ability to come up with fresh ideas.Ability to work in a stressful environment and handle difficult situations with both staff and the public required.Strong problem prevention and problem-solving skills – focus on mitigating risk to prevent problems and then having agility to quickly find solutions to problems when they arise.Ability to communicate (written and verbal) skillfully and effectively with a culturally diverse staff, volunteers and community in a professional, pleasant, respectful, courteous and tactful manner at all times.Licensing/Certification/Registration: A valid driver's license may be required and must be maintained during employment in this class.
