This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly knowledgeable Human Resources Manager to support our Virginia locations in Bristol and Abingdon, Virginia. This role is ideal for a human resources professional who thrives in a hands-on, manufacturing environment and values being a trusted partner to operations leadership. You’ll play a key role in shaping team member relations, ensuring compliance, supporting recruiting efforts, and building a strong, engaged workforce across our Virginia facilities. This position is a fast-track to director level for the right candidate.
JOB PURPOSE: The Manager, Human Resources - Virginia Operations, is responsible for leading and executing human resources functions across Strongwell’s Virginia facilities in Bristol and Abingdon. This role partners closely with the Corporate Director, Human Resources to ensure consistent application of company policies and practices, while maintaining a positive team member relations environment. Responsibilities include employment law compliance, talent acquisition, policy administration, team member engagement, and talent development to support operational and organizational objectives while serving as the primary human resources leader for Virginia Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide guidance to managers and team members on company policies, practices, and workplace concerns.
- Promote a positive team member relations environment through proactive engagement, communication, and problem resolution.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Lead and support audits and reporting requirements related to compliance and regulatory obligations.
- Partner with hiring managers to lead and support recruiting efforts, including workforce planning, job postings, candidate screening, and selection processes.
- Lead and support onboarding processes to ensure new team members are effectively integrated into the organization.
- Lead and support the performance review and succession planning process, including guidance to managers on goal setting, evaluations, and employee feedback.
- Identify and develop high-potential team members and succession planning initiatives.
- Support continuous learning and team member development initiatives aligned with business goals.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner on company-wide human resource initiatives, programs, and systems including team member engagement activities, celebrations, and annual events.
- Collaborate with payroll, benefits, safety, and other departments to ensure alignment and delivery effectiveness.
- Analyze human resources data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Support the development and implementation of training programs to address operational and organizational needs.
- Support special projects and initiatives assigned by the Corporate Director, Human Resources.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience, Competencies and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and human resources best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with HRIS and Human Capital Management systems and Microsoft Office.
- HR professional certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred.
