Manager Indirect Tax

Remote (Houston, TX area preferred | occasional office visits)

We are looking for an experienced Manager Indirect Tax to join our growing team. This role will focus on North American transaction taxes (U.S. & Canada) including sales tax, use tax, and GST.

You’ll work cross-functionally with Accounting, Operations, IT, and Business teams, playing a key role in compliance, planning, audits, and process improvements.

What You'll Do

Lead and manage the monthly indirect tax compliance cycle
Prepare and compile multi-state U.S. and Canadian sales data for third-party tax preparers
Manage and maintain customer exemption certificates using tax technology tools
Research complex tax issues and provide clear, timely guidance to internal teams
Support tax audits and reverse audits, including documentation gathering
Assist with tax technology implementations, testing, and system upgrades
Support property tax filings, business licenses, and regulatory registrations
Review and resolve tax notices through research and analysis
Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
Improve and document tax compliance processes
Participate in strategic initiatives such as:
M&A due diligence
Voluntary Disclosure Agreements (VDAs)
Strategic tax planning projects

What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of corporate indirect tax experience
Experience in multinational companies, Big 4, or national tax firms preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to apply tax theory to real business scenarios
Advanced Microsoft Office skills
