The Manager, Information Technology (Production Application Support & Database Administration) is responsible for ensuring the stability, resiliency, performance, and security of mission critical production systems supporting a regulated financial institution. This role leads Application Support, Database Administration, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) functions, managing production workloads across Microsoft SQL Server, AWS, Azure, and Pega platforms. This position will be working hybrid, based in San Juan, PR.
Main Duties & Responsibilities

Leads the I.T. Application & Database Administration activities for daily operations and major business projects. Serve as the lead on highly complex technical projects based on the business plan, review its progress, and keeps stakeholders informed.

Understand and analyze management needs and translate it into cost-effective short- and long-term technology solutions.

Liaise with stakeholders and business leaders to strategize, lead and plan working sessions to elicit and review business requirements.

Sponsors and develops possible solutions and support development of innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Develop processes and procedures using ITIL methodologies to govern application activities. Inspect, analyze, and implement regulatory changes related to our IT processes.

Envision and create strategic build process that minimize cloud operations costs by capitalizing on untap or unuse resources.

Design standard global RFP's, RFI’s. Evaluate vendor proposed solutions to ensure they satisfy OFG’s requirements.

Customize and implement change/incident management procedures using ITIL framework and methodologies.

Participate in the design of Cloud-based solutions working alongside Cloud Architects and service domains (e.g., Web, Database, Storage, Networking, IAM) to ensure that initial and anticipated future business requirements are represented.

Champions a “Cloud first” methodology, such as Platform as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service, Software as a Service.

Promote the use of AI to implement efficiencies on planning and processes

Manage relationships with major third-party applications providers

Oversight daily operations from the Application Administrators group.

Monitor in-house and outsourced applications including Cloud

Comply with all local and federal audits and regulations

Keeps abreast of industry trends and changes

Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration or any other related field required.

Certifications in ITIL, AWS, Azure, or SQL, preferred.

Eight (8) years of experience in IT production application support & database administration, required. Four (4) years of supervisory experience required. Banking experience preferred.

Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish, with the ability to explain complex data-driven findings to non-technical stakeholders required.

Knowledge in Cloud Governance, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Dev “Sec“ Ops, Containers, Cloud-native, CI / CD Pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Security as well as Windows & Linux, required.

Excellent interpersonal skills, multitasking, teamwork, and ability to manage multiple priorities required.
