Manager, Liability Claims

Currently seeking a Claims Liability Manager to oversee the daily operations of a commercial claims liability team to ensure all assigned claims are investigated and adjusted appropriately for the Midwest states of IN, IL, KY, MI, MO, and OH. The team determines liability, secures information, reviews coverages, and settles claims. The preferred location will be in the Carmel, IN regional office.

What you will do

• Determine work objectives and planning workloads and deadlines for the commercial liability team. Review procedures; workflows and time utilization: identifies potential volume or workflow issues and/or areas where efficiency can be improved and implements changes. Advise user departments of policy or procedural changes.
• Processes and document all file activity including but not limited to phone calls, attorney contact, medical providers, etc. Document a plan of action, strategy and future exposure. Set and maintain an appropriate diary schedule as specified in our claims company guidelines.
• Direct attendance at mediations for those cases within authority and any other duties related to the effective handling of claims. Implement strategies to expeditiously close files and manages claims to a conclusion in the most effective manner possible.
• Select, contract with, and work with independent adjusters and miscellaneous vendors in an attempt to handle claims effectively and contain expenses.
• Manage exposures and ensure that reserves are appropriate at the case level for assigned team.
• Investigate and resolve claimant, policyholder and agent inquiries and complaints.

The salary range for this position is $102,357-$157,629 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
