The Manager of Fisheries and Wildlife implements and manages fishery and wildlife management programs on East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) waters and watershed lands. The Manager manages a group of biologists, supervising biologists, and clerical staff engaged in the conservation and management of fish and wildlife, and represents EBMUD in regional and statewide forums on fishery, wildlife, and related topics. Broad knowledge and experience in fishery and wildlife biology as applied to management and conservation are essential. Duties include:
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience and understanding of salmonid management programs within the Central Valley and Coastal California regions, as well as thorough understanding of the state and federal Endangered Species Acts.
The annual salary is $158,988 up to $241,140. Initial placement within the range is based upon qualifications. Appointment is typically made at or below the control point ($206,688 per year).

1. Bachelor’s degree in fishery biology or wildlife management, zoology, or a closely related biological science.
2. Four years of work experience which has included increasing responsibility for fishery and wildlife management.
3. Physical ability and willingness to perform the critical and important duties of the job, including swimming for self-preservation, sitting, standing or walking for prolonged periods of time, exposure to a variety of weather conditions and where fire and poison oak are hazards.
4. Willingness and ability to work weekends, holidays and otherwise outside of office hours as needed.

4. Successful candidates will be placed on the hiring list, based on rank, for further consideration to fill the current regular vacancy, as well as others occurring over the next 12 to 24 months.
5. The probation period for this position is 12 months. For those holding civil service status the probation period is 6 months.
6. All employment offers are conditional, pending the results of a Live Scan background screening. All selected finalists must participate in the Live Scan background screening process to remain in consideration for EBMUD employment.
