Manager of Learning Support Services (full-time)

The College of Westchester, an Associate degree- and Baccalaureate degree-granting college in White Plains,is seeking a full-time Manager of Learning Support Services to work in our Student Services department. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Student Services and Retention, the Manager of Learning Support Services oversees Learning Center operations, college-wide testing initiatives, and structured academic support services that advance student persistence and academic success.

In addition to supervising tutoring services and coordinating placement and certification testing, this role leads the implementation of English as a Second Language (ESL) support services designed to strengthen academic language proficiency and support multilingual learners across the institution. The position plays an important role in aligning academic support delivery with retention priorities, student engagement efforts, and institutional student success outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • ESL/TESOL certification required.
  • Experience developing and delivering ESL curriculum and language acquisition programming.
  • Experience administering or interpreting placement assessments (e.g., ACCUPLACER ESL preferred).
  • Strong data literacy skills with ability to track student engagement and academic progress.
  • Ability to collaborate across Student Services and Academic Affairs to support student persistence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Learning Center & Academic Support Operations

  • Provide office coverage and excellent customer service.
  • Supervise delivery of tutoring and other academic support services offered through The Learning Center.
  • Develop, implement, and assess tutoring models aligned with institutional retention and academic success goals.
  • Provide individual assistance to improve student understanding of coursework.
  • Provide assistance with workshops and other group presentations offered through The Learning Center.
  • Maintain online reporting of tutoring sessions (in-person and online).
  • Provide text notifications through the academic database to support student engagement.
  • Maintain an appropriate learning and study environment.

ESL Program Development & Multilingual Learner Support

  • Develop and implement structured ESL support services for multilingual learners.
  • Design and facilitate ESL workshops, tutoring frameworks, and language development resources.
  • Assess incoming multilingual learners and collaborate with Admissions and Advising regarding placement recommendations.
  • Track ESL student engagement, persistence, and academic progression; provide reporting to Student Services leadership.
  • Partner with faculty to support classroom strategies for English language learners.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve ESL services based on student outcomes.

Testing & Accommodations

  • Administer internal and external exams and certifications.
  • Coordinate ACCUPLACER and/or ESL placement testing as applicable.
  • Provide documented learning accommodations in coordination with Accessibility Services in accordance with institutional policy.

Compensation & Schedule:

Hourly Range for this full-time position: $26.44 - $28.85 per hour (equivalent annual salary range is $55,000 - $60,000), based on qualifications and experience.

This is a full-time, nonexempt position requiring a flexible weekday schedule, participation in a rotating Saturday schedule, and occasional availability to support extended hours, testing needs, and institutional events.
