About the Role:

The Manager of Legal Operations serves as a key leadership figure within the firm, responsible for overseeing and empowering Legal Operations Managers (e.g., Paralegal Managers) and ensuring smooth execution of all aspects of pre-litigation and litigation support. This role combines legal knowledge, operational acumen, and people leadership to ensure our legal teams are aligned with firm strategy, compliant with best practices, and positioned for success.

You will act as a strategic advisor and thought partner to senior leadership and play a pivotal role in scaling operational effectiveness while championing our mission and core values.

What You’ll Do

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor Legal Operations Managers (including Paralegal Managers) to ensure high performance and accountability across legal support teams.
  • Facilitate leadership training, performance management, and succession planning in partnership with the People Team.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and career development pathways for managers and their direct reports.
  • Drive a culture of excellence, coaching, and continuous improvement.

Operational Oversight

  • Ensure efficient workflows, resource allocation, and project prioritization across pre-litigation and litigation paralegal teams.
  • Analyze caseload distribution, KPI metrics, and team performance data to identify gaps, implement solutions, and increase productivity.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to compliance, documentation standards, and client service protocols.

Strategic Alignment & Innovation

  • Collaborate with legal leadership to implement and optimize internal systems and processes.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to enhance legal operations, including technology adoption, training programs, and cross-departmental process improvements.
  • Act as a key liaison between attorneys, managers, and executive leadership to ensure alignment on firm goals and client experience.
  • Guide CLE tracking and support continuous legal education initiatives across teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Intake, Legal, and Support departments to streamline communication and escalation protocols.
  • Support system integration, software implementation, and process improvement initiatives using tools.
  • Promote transparency, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across departments.

Client-Centered Focus

  • Foster a client-first mindset among legal support teams.
  • Ensure internal teams are aligned on delivering a world-class experience through empathy, accuracy, and responsiveness.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • 7+ years of progressive legal experience, including 3+ years in a management or senior leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of personal injury law and legal processes in both pre-litigation and litigation phases.
  • Proven success in leading high-performing teams in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with legal technology and cloud-based case management tools.
  • Strategic thinking paired with strong execution and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in plaintiff-side personal injury law firms.
  • Background in building scalable processes and systems to support legal operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop leaders and teams.
