The Reno - Stead Airport is a 5,000 acre general aviation facility owned and operated by the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) and is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the
Manager of the Reno - Stead Airport (RTS).
Located approximately 15 miles north of Reno, RTS is working to develop itself as a major economic hub in the north valley. With over 5,000 acres, this facility boasts a vibrant general aviation community, abundant opportunities for land development, and an FAA designated test range, Reno-Stead airport is a small but diverse operation and requires a manager with the right combination of skills and experience to oversee and manage both the present and the future of this bustling aviation community.

The Position
Under direction, responsible for the operation, maintenance and security of the Reno- Stead General Aviation airport; coordinates airport capital improvement projects; assists in the long range planning of airport operations and maintenance functions.
The Manager of Reno-Stead Airport classification exists to plan, direct and coordinate the administration and day-to-day operations of the Reno-Stead General Aviation airport.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Duties Include

Directs and coordinates the activities of the Reno-Stead General Aviation airport; develops, recommends and enforces rules and regulations for all airport activities, including snow removal and UAS/UAV operations.

Establishes and maintains, through subordinates, various operating records, including accounts receivable ledgers, collections records, labor and material costs.

Communicates and initiates discussions with tenants and customers on a regular basis regarding Airport business and services cultivating new ideas/methods to continually develop, maintain and grow Airport revenues.

Selects, trains and instructs personnel and subordinates.

Directs the inspection of aviation and Airport facilities and arranges for corrective maintenance work.

Recommends, negotiates and administers various contracts for the Airport.

Development and administration the department's budget; forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitors and approve expenditures; prepares and implements budgetary adjustments.

Directs preparation of plans and proposals for future airfield maintenance/improvement projects to be compatible with the Reno-Stead environment, tenants needs and other internal/external considerations.

Ensures compliance with existing environmental standards and governmental regulations.

Confers with governmental officials, business and commercial representatives and general public about Airport development and operational matters.

Evaluates existing and proposed legislation and communicates within the organization regarding laws applicable to the airport, aviation, and the community.

Researches and stays abreast of current industry issues in order to anticipate impacts from industry changes.

Maintains good working relationships with airport tenants, government agencies, airport organizations, legislators, and community/airport participants.

Meets with representatives, community groups, general public, government officials, and other governmental agencies to provide information on RTAA policies relating to operation of the Airport; represents the RTAA's interests with Federal, State, Regional, and local agencies.

Files NOTAMS and updates airfield conditions; coordinates with local and regional FAA representatives regarding airspace usage and matters related to safety of flight at the airport.

Provides for 24-hour, 7-day emergency response; responds to such emergencies and directs activities.

Develops and implements goals and objectives for the Reno-Stead team.

This position may be deemed to be essential personnel as part of RTAA's Emergency Response Team, and may be required to respond to airport incidents as requested/required.

Required Education / Experience
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Airport Management or a related field or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible management experience in directing general aviation activities AND two (2) years of management and supervisory experience.
Required Licensing And/or Certifications
Possession of a valid Driver's License; ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, reach, bend, climb, lift, push, and pull items. May need to lift/move object weighing 30lbs occasionally.
Work is performed mostly in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to traverse short distances between office spaces. May be exposed to all weather elements like heat or cold daily during incidents and supporting the potential for irregular operations of the airport.

Entry Salary: $
120,600 to $150,700 annually
based on experience, with opportunity for annual step-based increases up to a maximum of $180,800. This is a salary and overtime exempt position. Initial salary placement will be based upon experience and qualifications.
