About the role: The Manager of Supply Chain Operations is responsible for leading the procurement, storage, distribution, and logistics of human cellular and tissue-based products (HCT/Ps). This role oversees daily operations of the tissue bank and related supply chain functions, ensuring compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 1271, AATB standards, and applicable state regulations. The Manager drives efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness while safeguarding product integrity and supporting business growth.
What you'll do:
Strategic Supply Chain Management
- Oversee end-to-end supply chain activities, including sourcing, vendor management, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics.
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies that balance regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and scalability.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Finance, Commercial) to align supply chain priorities with organizational goals.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all tissue banking operations comply with FDA 21 CFR Part 1271, AATB requirements, GMP/GTP, and relevant state regulations.
- Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory Affairs to maintain validated, inspection-ready processes and documentation.
- Support FDA, AATB, and state audits/inspections; lead supply chain-related corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Execute Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) to ensure adequate inventory of raw materials, packaging, and supplies.
- Establish and monitor vendor performance metrics; negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
- Maintain approved supplier list in partnership with Quality.
Inventory & Logistics Oversight
- Manage systems for lot-level traceability, temperature-controlled storage, and chain-of-custody documentation.
- Oversee internal warehouse operations and/or 3PL providers to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant fulfillment.
- Optimize transportation methods to ensure cold chain integrity and on-time delivery to customers.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, mentor, and manage supply chain team members, including procurement, warehouse, and logistics staff.
- Build a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and track departmental KPIs to measure efficiency, service levels, and cost control.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Life Sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5–7+ years of progressive supply chain or operations management experience; experience in HCT/Ps, biologics, or regulated healthcare products strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 1271, GMP, and GTP requirements.
- Experience with ERP/inventory management systems (Fishbowl, QuickBooks, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, and analytical decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to work cross-functionally.
- APICS CPIM/CSCP, Six Sigma, or equivalent. AATB certification or demonstrated knowledge of tissue banking accreditation standards.
